Sharon is a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medallist and a graduate of the “L” judges program. She has been teaching and training in the Gainesville/Ocala area since 1997 and along with her husband, owns and operates a 15 acre farm in Reddick, Florida. She is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Sharon’s current students range from Intro to Grand Prix, and to date, 6 have earned their Bronze medals, 5 have earned Silver, and 1 recently earned her Gold. Sharon and her students enjoy competing at the USDF Regional Championships every year and 2 students have now made it to Nationals! Horses in training range from 3 year olds just getting started under saddle to Grand Prix, and everything in between. Sharon has started nearly 150 horses under saddle, has an extensive show record at every level, and has taken two horses from Training Level to Grand Prix herself. This depth of training experience has led Sharon to be able to uniquely problem solve a multitude of issues in a way that only someone with experience at every step of the training process can. Many common problems such as ring sourness, heaviness in the bridle, asymmetry, lack of impulsion, and even irregularity, can be greatly improved by revisiting the basics used to train the young horse.

Sharon’s primary instructors have included Jos Sevriens and Gunnar Ostergaard, plus clinics with Jennie Loriston Clarke, Anne Gribbons and other notable Grand Prix trainers and judges. Her most important experience was spending nearly a year in Germany as a working student where she rode horses of all levels and observed some of the top riders in the sport.

Her wide range of influences, dedication to her own continued education, and endless curiosity for the training process reflects Sharon’s desire to do her best for her students and horses in training. Students enjoy her positive, practical approach to teaching dressage. She is always eager to problem solve, helping them understand what is needed to progress to the “next level”, whether the rider is a goal oriented competitor or simply looking for greater enjoyment and harmony in their riding!
